Operation Iraqi Freedom has left its mark on many families as sons, daughters, husbands and wives head off to wear.

In Wakulla County, there are hundreds of families with their eye on the news and a loved one on the battlefield.

For Donnie Sparkman, the U.S. attack in Iraq is personal. As a Vietnam veteran, Donnie is no stranger to warfare, but he never expected to revisit the battlefield through a father's eye.

He is a father of three U.S. soldiers, 24-year-old Colby and his younger brother Troy serve on the Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier. Both are circling the waters. Donnie's oldest son, 28-year-old Tully Sparkman is in the eye of the storm fighting on the front lines in Baghdad.

You can support the troops by dropping off items like baby wipes, powdered Gatorade or letters to any of the drop boxes, such as, at Winn-Dixie at the Senior Center and Citizens Bank.
