An airman from Moody Air Force Base visited with some local 4th graders Tuesday, to tell them about serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. He also thanked the students for their cards of support they sent while he was deployed.
Tech Sgt. David Smith fielded questions from dozens of elementary students who wanted to know about serving in a combat area. The students also asked a lot of questions about what food the troops have to eat. Smith also made it a point to tell these students how rewarding his job of helping rescue people can be.
"Its very gratifying, it really is very gratifying, especially once the mission is over and the person is back safely and they're medically taken care of the person and its extremely gratifying,” Smith says.
Smith also gave the class an American Flag his squadron had carried during a rescue mission in Afghanistan.
