20th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run

Hundreds of law enforcement officers traded their uniforms for running shoes Wednesday morning.

They weren't chasing bad guys but raising the flame of hope for children with special needs.

This year's Special Olympics torch run made it's way from the Publix on Monroe Street to the capitol.

The flame was passed on to a Tallahassee athlete who will compete in his final Olympic games, April 25 in Tampa.

"My favorite sport is basketball, I know I might get a scholarship one day,” says athlete Artise Brown.

"You know your heart goes out to these young people, they're an inspiration to many of us,” Attorney General Charlie Crist says.

This year Publix donated $430,547 to the Special Olympics to help children chase their dreams.
