Governor Discusses Land Buying Program

The governor and cabinet gathered for a round table discussion on how to improve the state’s land buying program.

Since Jeb Bush took office four years ago, the state has aggressively purchased 750,000 acres of land, most of it in environmentally sensitive areas.

Bush says he wants to continue the conservation process, but the state needs to make sure it is making the right purchases at the right price.

The governor and the cabinet have also purchased 90,000 acres of land to create new forests and bought several hundred acres to create seven new state parks across Florida.
