The search for a missing boater who disappeared into the Suwanne River more than a week ago is over.
Authorities say around 12 p.m. Saturday, two males discovered the body of 22-year-old Berton Blanton. Blanton's body was discovered 25 to 28 miles from where his boat capsized on Feb. 28.
Layefette County Sheriff, Carson McCall says Burton was not wearing a life jacket at the time. Sheriff Carson says the Suwanne River is extremely dangerous and has swift currents. Carson encourages all boaters to use life jackets and extreme caution while on the water.
Blanton was a volunteer fire fighter in Madison County.
