Residents in Wakulla County may have weathered the weekend storms but their homes didn't. Flood waters have reached so high in some areas, folks have turned to alternative transportation, like a good boat.

Sigrid Fain is knee deep in water and doesn't mind, her home on Old Magnolia Road is surrounded by the St. Marks River, the aftermath of last weeks string of thunderstorms that dumped nearly 14 inches of rain in Wakulla County.

While some are welcoming the adventure, emergency crews are hard at work.

But good news is on the horizon as sunny skies are in the forecast. In the meantime, Sigrid says spending a few days in a canoe doesn't bother her at all.

If you want to plan ahead for the next storm or need assistance from this weekend’s flood contact Wakulla Emergency Management at 926-0800.
