A Crawfordville man has been arrested for commercially dumping 33,000 pounds of solid waste off Highway 20.
Wade Douglas Smith was employed as a driver for the U.S. Filter Corporation. A company that transfers commercial solid waste from the Wakulla County landfill to the bay county solid waste facility in Panama City.
When being questioned at the scene, smith denied any involvement or knowledge of the crime, but later admitted that he illegally disposed of the waste.
Smith said he lied because he feared disciplinary action or a cut in his pay.
