Tallahassee utility customers can expect to see their bills go up starting next month.
Tallahassee commissioners are agreeing to phase in the rate hike of electric, sewer and water. They say it's the first base rate increase in about a decade.
Starting April 1, customers will see increases of six percent in electric rates and four percent in sewer rates. Other small increases will phase in during the next year and a half.
The city says the added fees are needed to cover the costs of maintaining a reliable utility system.
