Jury Awards Millions in Strip Search Suit

A Tallahassee jury awarded a South Florida family $2 million in its civil rights suit against several Jefferson County deputies.

The McCloud family sued the deputies in federal court saying they illegally strip searched both mother and daughter as well as illegally searched their relatives’ home afterward.

The five Jefferson County deputies denied the claims saying they had permission to search that night. But after three days of deliberations, a jury found officers guilty on all counts.
