Underage Drinking Problem

Underage drinking is a problem killing more and more children each day.

Police Chief Walt McNeil and Sheriff Larry Campbell, along with school and city officials, are attending a Town Hall meeting to discuss the issue.

In addition to teenage death, alcohol is also linked to unplanned and unprotected sex among teens.

Leon County school officials hope parents get the message.

”You're talking about young people who are beginning to make decisions. They're coming of age, and so if you're a concerned person you always want to look at these issues whether they are prevalent or not,” says Chiles High School Assistant Principal Joe Burgess.

In a survey of 600 people regarding binge drinking, 46 percent of them associated the practice with kids under the age of 18.
