WCTV has joined the Tallahassee Democrat in the gag order fight with regards to the Gary Hilton murder case.
WCTV has filed a motion to join the Democrat in opposing the request for a gag order and the closing of the pretrial evidence in the Hilton case.
WCTV has asked to be heard at the hearing scheduled for next Friday August 1st.
Lawyers for Gary Michael Hilton are asking for a gag order in the case.
Hilton was indicted by a Leon County grand jury in February on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and grand theft in the murder of Cheryl Dunlap. Dunlap's body was found in the Apalachicola National Forest in December of last year
Hilton's legal team is attempting to keep attorneys, law enforcement, witnesses and others in the case, from talking to the media. They are asking that all pre-trial evidence be sealed from public access.
