FSU Study Examines Chronic Pain in the Workplace

A study released out of Florida State University says chronic pain can be a nuisance on workers and employers alike.

FSU management professor Wayne Hochwarter says studies show chronic pain leads to more conflict on the job, less effective communication and less enthusiasm on the job amongst employees.

In one survey of about 2,000 employees, results indicated that chronic pain accounts for over five hours per week of lost productivity.

Chronic pain, which is any physical discomfort lasting for at least six months, reportedly affects over 50 million Americans.
