A housing program will get a head start on providing homes to those who need them in our area.
The city of Perry is donating dormant lots off of Veterans Drive to Main Street Perry's housing initiative, a home buyer’s assistance program.
Main Street will be able to use the land to build six new houses for moderate to low income families.
Rick Breer, Director of Economic Development for Taylor County, says, "It is a blessing when you have the community come together via Main Street program, the housing initiative under the Main Street umbrella, the city of Perry working with us. When you have a team working a problem, you'll get better results."
The housing program is looking to have houses on the lots in a matter of three to four months.
