Congressman Allen Boyd was on hand talking to fourth grade students at Gilchrist Elementary School.
Teachers are hoping to use Boyd's experience on Capitol Hill to educate kids about their civic duties and the role they'll play in the voting process.
Boyd's visit gave some kids a chance to learn more about their roles in student government.
Fourth grade teacher Ginny Webb says, “Congressman Boyd will give them a chance to see he's a real person and he's actually representing their needs."
Trip Rasmussen, a fourth grade student, says, "It's helping me on how I can make the school better and to help people learn more about the government."
The fourth graders were able to have a question and answer dialogue with Congressman Boyd.
