The 28th Annual Lake Talquin Open Bass Tournament is set to sail on Saturday in Gadsden County.
Organizers say hundreds of participants will be tossing out their lines on the waters hoping to catch the prize bass or catfish.
The event brings in thousands of dollars, giving an economic boost to the community.
Sarah Johnson, the event organizer, says, "We're hoping this will be a bigger better tournament. The Division of Gadsden County Parks Recreation has joined this year and help us co-sponsor the tournament."
Charles Chapman, Gadsden Parks and Rec Coordinator, says, "We have an opportunity for our local hoteliers, restaurants and even our local rental agencies such as Ingram Marina and Whipperville to get a chance to bring in some more tourism dollars to the county."
Registration is just $50. The prize for reeling in the big one is $1,000. The weigh-in will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
