Tallahassee city commissioners discussed how they will respond to Leon County’s ballot language for a proposed referendum on a law enforcement merger.
The county language reads: "Shall the City of Tallahassee’s power to have a city police department be transferred to the sheriff of Leon County so as to create one single law enforcement agency under the direction of an elected sheriff?"
“The ballot language does not indicate consolidation/merger in my opinion, what it does indicate is an abolishment of TPD, so that's something the city's going to have to take a very, very close look at,” explains Tallahassee Mayor John Marks.
Mayor Marks says the city will have a response on the way to the county in the near future.
