FDLE Executive Director Resigns

Guy Tunnell is out of a job due to apparent fallout from his role in investigating the Bay County boot camp controversy.

You may recall last month the special prosecutor removed FDLE from the investigation into Martin Lee Anderson's death.

Among the stated reasons were a series of e-mails from Tunnell, a former Bay County sheriff, to the current sheriff in charge of the Bay County Boot Camp where Anderson was beaten.

Tunnell also confirmed he had lunch with the sheriff prior to the funeral.

In a statement released Thursday night, Gov. Bush says in part:

"I thank Guy for his service. He is a dedicated law enforcement officer who leaves behind an agency that is second to none."

The statement makes no mention of the Anderson incident.
