Substation 29 is ready to house volunteer firefighters. It is the first of five new volunteer fire substations built throughout Leon County. Saturday the county commissioners and the community celebrated the stations opening.
The board funded the construction of these stations for unincorporated areas of the county.
"It's going to have a positive impact for homeowners and businesses in terms of their fire insurance ratings," said Leon County Commissioner, Cliff Thaell. The new fire station is equipped with a 2,500-gallon pumper tanker and a disaster response trailer.
