It's the day many Tallahassee residents have been waiting for, a chance to go into outer space, well almost. Today was the grand opening of Tallahassee's Challenger Learning Center. The ceremony began with a commemoration for all the astronauts who lost their lives exploring the final frontier.
It was then followed by a brief conversation with astronauts from the international space station in orbit.
The center is expected to boost tourism in the capital city. "The Imax theatre is a wonderful facility, it's a wonderful addition to Kleman Plaza," said John Marks, the mayor of Tallahassee. The center is open seven days a week.
