A Monticello family is grieving after their loved one drowned in Lake Miccosukee.
Florida Fish and Wildlife officers say Walter Davis was fishing on his boat Monday evening when he somehow ended up in the water.
A couple of boaters heard a splash and saw a man flaring his arms. The couple tried to get to Davis, but didn't make it in time.
Friends and family members were shaken up as they watched Davis’ boat brought to shore. One of his five children says he can't imagine moving on without him both at home and at the church where he was a preacher.
"It's gonna be kinda hard cause he ain’t gonna be able to sing his songs, he won't be able to get up and say nothing. It's gonna be kinda rough," said Dontario Davis.
FWC officers say Davis was not wearing a life jacket and did not know how to swim. They also say he may have had heart problems.
An autopsy is expected Tuesday.
Davis was the preacher of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.
