Leon County commissioners also agreed to budget $300,000 for Tallahassee Memorial Hospital to work towards becoming a trauma center.
TMH said the Tallahassee area is the only region of its size in Florida to not have a trauma center designation. The hospital estimates it's going to cost $1.5 million to start and about $1.4 million each year to maintain.
TMH is asking for a financial commitment of $300,000 from both the city and county commissions. It plans to cover the rest of the costs.
