The remains of six U.S., Moody-based, airmen are headed home after a somber ceremony in Afghanistan.
The Air Force rescue team members died Sunday when their helicopter went down trying to reach two injured children.
Hundreds of airmen lined a muddy, potholed road for about a mile to view the procession as the bodies headed for Bagram Air Base. The cause of the crash is under investigation but officials say the helicopter was not shot down.
They say there were thunderstorms at the time of the crash. The six crew members belonged to the 347th Operations Group, based in Valdosta.
