The Florida cabinet approved Jeb Bush’s nomination of former state Lottery Department Inspector General Jerry Bailey. He’s the new interim commissioner, replacing the embattled Guy Tunnell.
Tunnell resigned following controversy regarding FDLE’s handling of the investigation of the death of Martin Lee Anderson who was beaten at the Bay County Boot Camp which Tunnell helped found.
Bailey says he thinks FDLE has moved beyond the controversy.
“I’m satisfied by my continuing contact with the agency that they’re well-grounded in integrity. We’re past those questions that were asked,” Baily says.
Bailey officially took over the post Tuesday.
