Pop May Pop Out of Public Schools

Health experts say its unhealthy habits that are contributing to the nation's obesity epidemic. With adolescent obesity doubling in the last few decades, the nation's biggest beverage distributors have agreed to flunk the junk out of schools, halting the sale of sodas to most public elementary and middle schools.

High schools would only be able to sell diet soda.

The beverage companies’ big announcement may cause the district to look again at their wellness program. They may take the sports drinks out of middle schools. Although they're non-carbonated, some of them are packed with sugar and calories.
