In Tallahassee, hundreds of mentors, students, and converged on the state capitol to celebrate the seventh annual Take Stock in Children Rally.
Take Stock in Children is a program for kids from low income families. Program promises students from third to ninth grade that if they stay out of trouble, remain drug-free and maintain good grades, they will receive a full scholarship to college or vocational school.
The Lt. Gov. says the program is highly successful.
"Students know that they can and will succeed, and that's an important element for all of us, 85 percent go on to college,” Lt. Gov. Toni Jennings says.
She also says the program will be expanded in the coming months to include the children of prison inmates.
