The town once voted the Best Small Town in America is getting a brand new library.
As a matter of fact, it’s the first building ever constructed to be used as a library in Gadsden County. And we're talking about the town of Havana. Weather permitting; the library should open sometime around mid June.
The cost of the library is $700,000. Money for the construction came from a state grant, a loan from the town and fund raisers done by the citizens.
And now the building is almost an opened reality.
"I think the people in this community are very excited, it's being received very well,” comments City Manager Susan Freiden.
But the Havana Library isn't quite yet in the home stretch. They still have more money to raise to furnish the building. On April 17 starting at 5:30 p.m., the town of Havana will hold a fish fry to help raise some more money.
