Many say they're parking their trucks in protest. Pump-out services say they were not told about the rate hike.
Several companies say they plan to boycott the city's hike by stopping their services altogether.
City officials say they did everything they were supposed to with the rate hike except tell everyone about it.
"In all honesty, we didn't do a great job getting that info, specifically out to the companies that provide the service. The city managers authorized that rate increase now to start on June 1. That will give the companies more time to change their contracts, notify their customers,” explains City of Tallahassee spokesperson Michelle Bono.
The city says they've been calling the pump-out services since Thursday afternoon to let them know about the change. Many say they plan to resume pumping services.
