The festival is getting started with the "Flames on the Flint Cook-Off" with eight local teams competing for the title of best barbecue.
After an all day cookout the barbecue will be judged Friday evening.
Organizers say this festival brings the community together.
"The River Town Days Festival started three years ago. We wanted to put on an economic festival that appealed to all types of people form all walks of life."
The festival continues Saturday at 8 a.m. with arts, crafts, food, and entertainment.
