Nine-year-old Johnny Morris is all smiles these days. He's enrolled at Latma Christian Academy in Madison County, an institution that's helping him earn As and Bs. But Morris had to learn a difficult lesson firsthand.
In 2004, Morris was arrested for an altercation at his elementary school. He spent several hours in a jail cell just doors away from career criminals. It's an experience that left him emotionally withdrawn.
He's learning a lot at his new school and is set to receive an award for academic excellence and character building. But the top prize for the Morris family is the look of pure joy he exudes everyday knowing someday he'll achieve his ultimate goal to be a lawyer and practice law to change the way children are treated in the judicial system.
