Emergency management is getting a jumpstart on this year's hurricane season by spreading the word to prepare now.
Taylor county emergency management is making rounds throughout the community encouraging residents to not wait until it's too late. Several public presentations have already been made at community centers with AARP and the Shrine Clubs on how to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.
Coastal communities are particularly urged to prepare now and to heed all warnings.
Emergency management also plans to make presentations at local schools in hopes of helping kids and thereby reaching their parents as well.
The 2006 hurricane season begins June 1.
