Valdosta's unemployment rate remains at three percent, well below the rest of the state's 4.5 percent.
Local job seekers say the unemployment rate remains low because of the great work being done at the Department of Labor. That is where people can get plenty of free help to find a job. Managers say there are more than 140 open positions in South Georgia at any one time.
People who have recently got a job through the department say the process is easy and convenient.
Mike Bradford, who got a job through the Department of Labor, said, "I looked at the Web site a lot, and searched for jobs there and they had seminars on going to interviews, resumes, networking with people, getting your name in front of people."
The Department of Labor managers say they constantly have Valdosta area businesses coming forward looking for new employees.
