Howard Middle School is one of the top 100 middle schools honored by Governor Jeb Bush for making progress on the writing portion of the F-CAT.
Howard had one of the highest percentages of students scoring 3.5 and above on the 2006 F-CAT.
Teachers have been incorporating real world lessons, like creating Web pages and writing stories that are published in journals and on the Web.
School officials say the students are scoring above the state level because teachers are passionate about what they do and students are making academic strides knowing success is inevitable.
