AAA expects close to two million motorists on the highway this Memorial Day weekend in Florida. That's up one percent from last Memorial Day weekend.
Just over one million are expected to hit the road in Georgia, despite gas prices. In Florida the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $2.88. In Georgia the average is $2.82 a gallon.
"Elevated gas prices definitely affect us, but driving is a necessity and it has not curbed us from doing the things we want to do. You just have to budget a little different," said Tallahassee resident Cindy Burress, who is heading to Fort Myers, FL.
A AAA spokesperson says travelers are staying with family and friends and dining out less to save money.
