Officials with the Southeastern Community Blood Center hope people roll up their sleeves before heading off this holiday weekend.
With millions hitting the highway, the need for blood is greater as the risk for car accidents increases. Right now, the blood center is on a two-day supply of O positive, B positive and O negative blood types.
The goal is to have a five-day supply heading into the big weekend.
"Oh, it's very easy. I usually take my lunch hour and I usually get in and out within an hour. They give you a soda and they are very accommodating. It's an enjoyable experience," said blood donor Lane Lunn.
For those who want to give the gift of life, a blood drive is set for Friday at the Best Buy on Apalachee Parkway, starting at noon, and on Saturday a drive will be held at the Red Lobster on North Monroe. It starts at 10 a.m.
