Deadbeat dads could risk spending Father's Day in jail.
A three-county crackdown on deadbeat parents begins later this week.
Leon, Jefferson and Wakulla Counties are warning parents who are behind on their child support to take care of it now before the law comes knocking.
SGT Chris Chase, LCSO spokesman, said, "We want them to pay up before Father's Day. They're not doing any good by sitting in jail. It's not helping the children at all who need the money to continue on to have clothes and food on the table. The real effort is to get them to pay up."
This crackdown begins Thursday and runs through June 16. Parents who are delinquent in their payments are urged to call the Department of Revenue or stop by the Child Support Enforcement Service Center on Allen Road to remedy the situation.
