Illegal dumpsites are posing a big problem. Instead of putting up with the problem, they are doing something about it. Hamilton Faulk is an environmental specialist working for Thomas County. Since his position was created eight months ago, Faulk has worked more than 60 illegal dumping cases, from tire dumps to raw sewage dumps.
He says there is still more work ahead on the road to making Thomas County a cleaner place. Faulk said, "respect the land and take pride in your property, keep it clean and if you’re going to dispose of something, dispose of it properly."
Property owners are given 30-days to clean up illegal dump sites, if the dump is not cleaned, they will be served a citation.
