Haz-Mat Situation

A fleet of fire trucks, patrol cars, and ultimately the bomb squad, roared toward Woodville Friday morning.

It all started when a landlord made a worrisome find as he checked on a suspicious car outside one of his rental homes.

Dozens of firemen and sheriffs deputies flooded Hassel Drive Friday just after 9 a.m.

Bob McLoud had gone to check on his trailer at 983 Hassel Drive and discovered someone had broken in.

Whoever it was wreaked havoc inside.

The bomb squad robot was sent inside to retrieve a can cooking in the microwave.

Officers feared it could cause a fire or explosion with the strong smell of gas in the house.

The callout ended without incident, and deputies are now talking to former tenants to see if any of them were possible targets, or, had any possible grudges against the owner.
