Valdosta, GA -
Law enforcement is sounding off after an overnight shooting at a nightclub in Valdosta.
"You will have security at that club from now on. If you do not, these kinds of things continue to reoccur, then I'm going to approach the City Manager, and request that his business license be revoked", says Valdosta Police Chief, Brian Childers.
According to Police, the shooting happened at Club Dreams , formerly known as Club 229, on Bemiss Road around 2 am, as the club was closing.
"Officers arrived on the scene, and we are told that apparently an altercation took place in the parking lot. Someone pulled out a weapon and fired multiple shots. As people were running from the scene, three people were struck", says Lt. Aaron Kirk.
The police department says three victims were shot in the leg area. They are believed to be innocent bystanders and were taken to South Georgia Medical Center, where they were treated for injuries.
We tried to get a comment from the club's owner on the shooting, who instead tried kicking us off the shopping center's parking lot.
Business Owner: "Why you gotta be down here, though?"
WCTV: "Because I'm reporting on this location, on the shooting that happened here last night."
Business Owner: "Okay, well do it up top."
WCTV: "I'm actually already done shooting for the day."
Business Owner: "Alright, so, this is my business."
The club owner then asked us to leave. VPD says they have had two cases reported at Club Dreams in the last six months. They also say it has changed hands multiple times.
Police say their investigation is ongoing and they have no suspects at this time. Anyone with information is encouraged to call The Valdosta Police Department at (229) 242-2606. Information can be given anonymously.
