New Commission to Examine African-American Men

It’s called the Council on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys.

Their job is to address issues such as crime, poverty, drug abuse and dropout rates in the black community.

Sen. Tony Hill, (D) Jacksonville, said, “Well, this commission would be able to hear people on the frontlines and what barriers they have, and we could come back and put policies in place to take away those barriers so these people can be productive in society.”

With the governor's signature, the commission becomes official in January.
