Investigators with the Tallahassee Fire Department have determined the cause of the fire that forced four families from their homes and caused more than $50,000 in damage Wednesday night.
The blaze started at 7:30 p.m. at the Astoria Arms Apartments on Hartsfield Road. Officials say the heat from welding work, on a stairwell, ignited components inside a wall on the outside of the apartments, which started the blaze.
Four apartments were damaged, leaving nine people without a home.
