Changing of the Guard at Moody A.F.B.

The new base leader at Moody Air Force Base says he will strive to continue the successful tradition of the South Georgia base.

Brigadier General John Folkerts has been running Moody Air Force Base for nearly two years. He is moving on and Thursday he relinquished command to the base's new Commander, Colonel Bradley Heithhold.

General John Folkerts said, "I'm honored to have commanded this base and the Air Force's only rescue wing. I'm honored to have served along side and contributed to the success of other team Moody units."

General Folkerts took time during Thursday's change of command ceremony to thank and honor all those who've helped make his experience at Moody a successful one.

He also had a few words of encouragement for the new base commander, Colonel Bradley Heithhld, saying, "Brad, you're really (going to) love it here, there's simply no better wing command assignment in the United State's Air Force."

After his final remarks, Folkerts was recognized for his service at Moody.

Then, he released his control over the base, stepped aside and watched as command was given to Colonel Heithhold.

Folkerts is moving on to become the Vice Commander of Air Force Special Operations at Hulbert Field in Ft. Walton Beach.
