The City of Valdosta wants to add telecommunications along with electricity, water and sewer service for its residents.
Now it is an issue of free market enterprise systems versus publicly owned. Currently, the city telecommunications committee is conducting a study to see if a government run cable service is the best option.
The Chamber of Commerce says the city's intentions might be good, but it poses a concern for the business community.
The committee will not decide if the city should get into the telecommunications business until the study is done and determine if it is feasible.
