It has been proven a success in Florida, but now Georgia wants a try. Today, pastors from all denominations in Thomasville will make a pact to help establish strong marriages in their community.
It's called marriage builders. It is an agreement between pastors to counsel couples before they agree to marry them. But, it does not stop there; the program will also incorporate post marital counseling by allowing seasoned couples to mentor newly weds.
"It just makes me feel so much better performing the wedding ceremony knowing that we have talked about the things that are going to enable that couple to keep the vows they make there in front of God and everyone," says Pastor Dan Spencer.
The program is being piloted in Thomasville and will expand to nearly 100 communities in the next 10 years.
