AP Testing

Students from all over the country are sharpening their pencils for the upcoming Advanced Placement Examination Test.

Lauren Howell is one hundreds of students who've spent the year taking college level courses at Leon High School.

“AP classes are advanced placement. It's basically automatic college credit if you pass the test. A three or above counts at any state university which is awesome, its free college,” she says.

Florida is one of the few states where AP tests are given for free. Other states pay up to $80 per student. AP Psychology Teacher Dr. Linda Teague says students should take advantage of this free offer.

"It's higher level thinking that they are having to do, it's a college level course, and it's just a real challenge," says Dr. Teague.

It’s a challenge that may not be for everyone. Teachers say these students have to be motivated and self-disciplined, and in the end the hard work will pay off.

If you're up for the "ultimate test," Dr. Teague recommends eating a good breakfast and getting some exercise before the exam. The reward for students passing the AP test is possibly entering college as a sophomore, depending on how many classes they take.
