Worker's Compensation

After prodding from the governor, the House and Senate are each passing their differing versions of Worker’s Compensation Reform.

Florida currently has some of the highest rates for employers in the country and some of the lowest benefits for injured workers.

In the House, Stacie Ritter voted against the bill because it lowered how much injured people could receive.

"It takes away the right of the employee to choose which pharmacy he or she uses to fill prescriptions for the injury that was received while on the job. That is unconsciousable," she says.

Despite Rep. Ritter's concerns, the measure passed in the House and the Senate approved a revised version. Now this bill is in limbo and could go to special session.
