Global Warming Causing Pollution Up in Florida

The report by the Florida Public Interest Resource Group found carbon dioxide emissions due to car exhaust and coal-burning power plants increased by 347 percent in Florida since 1960.

Florida ranks second in the nation for the largest overall increase in carbon dioxide emissions, just behind Texas.

Many researchers blame those emissions for global warming.

Dr. Ronald Saff, an asthma specialist, said, “Global warming has already killed hundreds of thousands of people around the globe due to heat waves, flooding, and other catastrophes.”

F-PIRG is pushing the federal government to require use of cleaner power plant technologies and provide additional incentives for more fuel-efficient vehicles.
