Eyewitness News has learned FAMU’s Inspector General is placed on leave.
Sources say Michael Brown is on leave with pay until further notice.
The suspension may be in connection with the recent draft audit report the university received from the state.
The audit shows a surplus of 2.7 million dollars, not eight million as originally thought.
"The numbers are slightly different. And, of course, you will have that with any audit...that the numbers may not be what they were in the unaudited version of our financial report. So, we are not surprised by that, but we are happy that we are in the black," says FAMU spokeswoman Lanedra Carroll.
One of the key findings in the report states "a lack of adequate and experienced personnel in key fiscal areas."
FAMU's board of trustees is scheduled to meet Thursday, July 27.
