Tuition Paid In Full for Some Florida Community College Students

Governor Jeb Bush recently signed a change to the bright future scholarship into law.

Before, medallion scholars, or high school graduates in Florida with a 3.0 GPA, had 75 percent of their tuition paid whether they attended a community college or state university.

Now, if these students attend community college they will have 100 percent of their tuition paid.

"He took what was already an affordable education in Florida at the community college system and made it more affordable. And all of the while, saving money for the state of Florida by pushing students into community colleges which have a lower tuition rate," says William Spiers, Director of Financial Aid at Tallahassee Community College.

The new change takes affect July 1.
