The numbers are now in for a three-county deadbeat parent roundup.
Leon, Jefferson and Wakulla Counties tried to round up more than 80 parents who were delinquent in their child support payments.
They wound up arresting 15 people and recovering $9,000 in past due payments, but apparently word of the sweep prompted others to fall in line too.
SGT Chris Chase of LCSO said, "We had 12 people come forward to pay their child support, to pay it before they had a warrant for their arrest. Most of these people didn't have a warrant but were in arrears and were able to come forward on their own and take the initiative to get paid up and make sure they didn't have this problem."
Jefferson County was able to arrest the highest percentage of dead beat parents, catching more than 70 percent the first day.
