T-Pain says he grew up in the neighborhood and has great memories of afternoons spent at the Walker-Ford Community Center.
As part of the 4th of July festivities, the center was holding its fun day and T-Pain was on hand to dig his face into a bowl of butter pecan ice cream during the annual ice cream eating contest.
T-Pain says he is happy to be home.
T-Pain said, "It feels good to give back to the community and it's basically like a joy, you know what I'm saying? Just knowing that the community gave to me and hey why not give right back."
T-Pain was also receiving a surprise. Mayor John Marks proclaimed July 3, 2006 as T-Pain Day in Tallahassee.
